Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Baby 81 / "Weapon of Choice" MP3

On May 1, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will release their fourth full-length record, Baby 81. Following 2005's Howl, which was a predominantly bluesy record without the band's trademark shoegaze electric guitars, BRMC have returned to their more rocking, gritty form. "Weapon of Choice" is the lead single from the album, a fast-paced number which serves as a good sampling of their sound.

Here are some other tunes from their earlier work. BMRC have released consistently good albums (see the BRMC review archive here), and Baby 81 continues their run of strong records. I look forward to more output from these guys.

I'd like to explain the above band photo this way:

Guy in middle: Why in the fuck did you have us meet you al lthe way out in Brooklyn at 8am in January, I just took a shower and I'm freezing.

Guy on right: I was feeling lonely, that's all.

Guy on left: Here we go agai...hey, I like your jacket.

One last comment, after listening to this song, it bears a striking resemblance to the opening song from Dumb & Dumber.

Hmm... I don't quite remember the opening song, I'll have to listen for it the next time I watch it.

And yeah, there are some goofy looks in that picture, typical of rockers. I like the dude's look on the right, it's supposed to be pensive or serious or thoughtful, but he could just be trying to avoid stepping in something.
